The demand for EV charging on the Blue Ridge Parkway is growing.
EV Charging at Our Office
We wish we could offer a Level 2 charging station to hlep meet the demand. The speed and convenience for EV owners can’t be beat, but, right now, its cost prohibitive for small businesses like ours. Until we find a better option, we can offer EV owners a 110-volt outlet at our office for $2.50 per hour. We have two available. Please know that EV charging in front of our office is not for those looking for a place to park and sleep in their cars overnight while their cars charge. You must have a reservation with us to use them.
Renting a Site, Cabin or Motel Room
Parking at the office for a charge is the best option for guests staying at a cabin or in a motel room. We’ll be glad to shuttle you back to your cabin or room once you’ve dropped your car off at the office.
Another option is to rent a tent or RV site. We’ve had guests rent either type of site and sleep in a tent or their cars. Others have rented a cabin or motel plus a site to charge their car. Preferred sites to rent for charging are Tent 14, our only drive in tent site, or a back-in RV space, preferably sites 5 or 6. The tent site has a 110 outlet, and the RV sites have 50 and 30 amp. If you’re making a reservation online and these specific sites are not available, call us at 276-730-7154. We’ll see what alternatives we have available to make sure you get your car charged.
Other EV Charging Options
Once you’ve stayed with us and our heading out to see more of the Blue Ridge Parkway or our region, a Google search shows a charging station in Mt. Airy, NC, about a half hour south of us, and another in Wytheville, VA, a little over a half hour north of us. The next closest is in Dobson, NC, about an hour south of Fancy Gap. For a list of charging options on or near the parkway, visit BlueRidgeParkway.org and search EV charging.
See You on the Blue Ridge
Since we live and work on the Blue Ridge Parkway, we couldn’t be happier that the demand for EV charging is increasing. A continued reduction in emissions will only benefit the 469-mile National Park, known as “America’s favorite drive.”
Look for Fancy Gap Cabins and Campground approximately midway on the Blue Ridge Parkway just south of Fancy Gap, VA between mileposts 202 and 203. You can choose to stay in our motel, a camping cabin, a tent site or an RV space. Check out our website, fancygapcabinsandcampground.com for details. Don’t forget to click on Things to Do so you don’t miss any hiking, paddling, wine tasting, music, festivals or shopping.
No matter what you’re driving, there couldn’t be a better place to take a road trip than the Blue Ridge Parkway.
